Its been a while

Sorry for the delay in posting folks, been super busy with this that and the other, but managed a weekend of gardening related activities, so very happy :-).

On Saturday we went to The Hertfordshire Flower Show, at Knebworth House. It wasn’t raining but it was very cold and very muddy. So much to buy, just stall after stall of cheap plants and accessories I was in my element. These are some of the things I purchased, before and after planting them up:

I managed to get out in the garden between rain showers yesterday. I planted on some seedlings and planted out some hardy plants, I am also hardening  up some larger plug grown plants by covering them up at night and leaving them out during the day.

So things are moving along nicely now, as you can see the Marigolds and Snap Dragons (top pic) are getting big now, and I have pinched out 2 sets of flower buds, so the next set I’ll allow to flower.

In the above photo are the latest plugs, pansies and petunias, and the pic to the right has my seedlings which I have potted on. Soon everything will be ready to go  out, its getting very exciting now 🙂

Its nice to finally see parts of the garden coming together now. I have various pots on the patio and I have started to lay things out further into the garden. Its coming together slowly.

I have planted up a sweet pea tub, with bamboo canes, and I am hoping these sweet peas, which I grew from seed, will make it to the top! The other pots have various annuals in, including a dwarf sweet pea in a cranberry colour. In the back of this photo you can see the tubs of new hardy plants laid out, the rose bushes are also in full leaf, and below them I have planted 3 fuchsias into the border.

My wild flower border seedlings are all coming up, they look like weeds at the moment (and there are some weeds in amongst them) but I am hoping it wont be long before they look more like flowers!

My radishes and lettuces are also getting on with growing up, I cant wait to get my tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and strawberries on the go so I can have lovely fresh lunches!

So apart from potting on as the various seeds and plugs grow up I am up to date with what I have to do. I have more orders to arrive of plants and salad, and as and when they arrive I’ll plant them up. I feel happy with where I have got to so far, its all under control 😉
