Fools Day Progress

So I thought I wasn’t going to have much to do in the garden this weekend but I managed to find some work for myself. Sunday was a lovely sunny day so I spent it tidying the garden and  spending money in the garden centre!

We now have Mr and Mrs Greenhouse………(click on any photo to enlarge it)

For the next batch of plugs and veg I am going to be growing I’ll need this extra space,  that was my excuse, but don’t they make a cute couple 😉

My very  lovely mum-in-law-to-be said I could get some pots as an Easter gift, so I got 2 big round pots for my tumbling container tomatoes, 2 troughs for sweet peppers and 1 for cucumbers. I will grow one tub of toms in the greenhouse and one outside, the peppers and cucumbers I am not too sure where they will grow best yet, I’ll start them in the greenhouse and see how they go.

The other addition, of the gardening ‘hardware’ variety, was this wicker salad grower. Half price from my garden centre. This will be for the lettuce and radishes. I was really pleased with this because it looks so pretty on the patio, much better than the brown sacks I was going to use. I think I’ll use one section for one week and to keep the crops coming I shall wait a week and plant up the other side, fresh salad will keep on coming!

This is my home made propagation set up.

Toilet tubes with sweet peas in them, the cotton bud tub has holes in the bottom and is propagating tomatoes, and the small pots have the remainder of sweet peas in. With the help of some re used water cooler cups I hope it will be enough to start them off inside. They were all nicely steamed up and warm this morning so I have hope 🙂

The rest of the garden is keeping itself looking pretty and more Tulips and flowers are blooming.

I am not sure what the above blue flower is, its growing in the lawn and we didn’t put it there, its very small and very pretty though and Tim managed to mow around the two of them we have.

So for a not very busy weekend, I was very busy 🙂

The lovely flower growing in your lawn looks like Anemone blanda. Have a look at my photostream (pixmad) on Flickr and you will see some pictures from a couple of weeks ago with the same flower.

You are doing just great with your gardening!

  4. I see you are using the plastic cups like I am. Mine are blue though so not too good for lids, just as pots. What do you have outside in the Mr & Mrs greenhouses?

    • hi there, yep im pleased so far with the cups, free ‘cloches’ are always good 🙂 I have plugs mainly in the greenhouses marigolds and such. Some flower seeds too which dont need as much warmth and attention, like ‘fat spike’ 🙂
